breathtaking view

The views from the Superior Japanese-Style Room were simply breathtaking, overlooking the serene beauty of Lake Biwa. The private hot springs added a splash of luxury to my stay, allowing me to relax to my heart's content. Dining was an experience in itself, with every kaiseki meal beautifully presented and bursting with traditional flavors!

restrictive footwear policy

The onsen experience was incredibly relaxing as I enjoyed stargazing from the outdoor bath while unwinding after a long day.

I found the need to wear socks with orthotics a bit tricky, given the no-shoe policy in the common areas and dining rooms.

Awesome family bonding

Had such an enjoyable time! We stayed for 2 nights and loved the tatami room with the open-air bath. The onsen was really nice and had tons of quality amenities. Dinner was delish, especially the soba! Just wish the private bath had a better view. Totally would come back for the fantastic service!

The spacious tatami room provided a gorgeous view of the lake, truly making for an enchanting stay. The attentiveness of the staff was commendable, from explaining onsen etiquette to accommodating our requests promptly. the condition of the tatami mats was disappointing, with broken sections creating a negative impression. the cleanliness of the sink area was not up to par, which detracted from an otherwise relaxing experience. The dining was exceptional, with a delicious dinner and breakfast that stood out during our trip.

great onsen

It was just an excellent fit for a concise stay in Otsu with great value. The onsen was delightful, making my skin feel incredibly soft after a relaxing soak. Use the free shuttle service from Ogoto-onsen station to make your arrival easier.
